Review Of Jason Ferruggia’s Muscle Gaining Secrets
Review Of Jason Ferruggia’s Muscle Gaining Secrets. I recently read Jason’s Muscle Gaining Secrets muscle building system and would like to share my thoughts on it. I’ll use what in Toastmasters is known as the ‘sandwich’–some good points, some constructive criticism followed by more good points. My overall feeling about it is positive.
Overall Rating: 4/5 stars
Here goes…
Pros
- A highly personal story about his multi-year quest to get rid of his skinny look, even being admitted to hospital for his over use of supplements—at some point he was so obsessed with getting big that he was taking 100 pills a day. You can’t help but feel kinship with him!
- Great review of supplements. Those that work and those that don’t. The problem with supplements is about 95% of them don’t work but all the marketing sounds so convincing and most hardgainers are so desperate to get big that we fall for it. Most people don’t have the time to do the kind of research that Jason has done. We pick whatever marketing appeals to us and hope for the best. It is like a breath of fresh air to be able to trust someone who has done his homework and suffered the worst effects and then just rely on him for recommendations!
For example even a fitness expert like me was still under the false belief that colostrum works! Not to mention a few of the others in the report that are a complete waste of money!
For me, the supplements report was actually the most valuable part of his Muscle Gaining Secrets system
- He provides a simple technique for gauging ones progress. Once you learn this tool you will never gain feel daunted by keep track of all the myriad exercises that amateurs are often advised to rotate through
Cons
- He often belabors the same point over and over again but, hey, maybe some people need that kind of repetition to get it!
- Oversimplifies things at times. For example he argues that you cannot isolate muscles. You either train the whole muscle or you don’t, you cannot isolate upper pecs and lower pecs. I disagree with this. You can, in fact, isolate certain muscles. I know this because I have done it and have trained with famous body builders like Frank Zane who also practices muscle isolation. But for beginners this is a moot point. The simplicity makes the book more accessible.
- Gets into arcane details about mitochondria and hyperplasia yet he promised not to at the beginning!
- Neck training? Put your neck in harness and swing it around, so that you can command respect and authority by having a big neck? Common Jason, I think you have misread your audience! Most hardgainers want to get a powerful chest, arms, abs and maybe legs. The neck is the least of their concerns!!!!!!
Pros
- Exposes why the bodybuilding magazines advise people to overtrain. This one is really sneaky!
- He includes useful tips on correct form for the most core exercises
- Extensive coverage of the different exercises as well as answers to several frequently asked questions about the said exercises
- Explains how to do a push up properly. This is one of the most basic highly effective exercises but is often overlooked. As he says “everyone has done a push up but only a few have done a push up properly”
- Explains how to avoid “man boobs” i.e. the droopy pec look that some body builders sport
- Explains the benefits of stretching. One of my personal pet peeves. Most people do not give stretching the attention it deserves
- Provides sample meal plans that are healthy, tasty and not overly restrictive. These are always more sustainable long term than many of the strict diets some trainers recommend.
- Includes viable options for vegetarians noting that the legendary Bill Pearl was a vegetarian
- Includes several ‘every day’ tips for boosting testosterone (the most important hormone for building muscle)
While Muscle Gain Secrets doesn’t quite measure up to Sean Nalewanyj’s Muscle Gain Truth, if you have already purchased Muscle Gain Truth and would perhaps like a different perspective Muscle Gain Secrets is still a great resource. You mayobtain it here:
