Review of Sean Nalewanyj’s Muscle Gain Truth No-Fail System

Below is a review of Sean Nalewanyj’s best selling Muscle Gain Truth No-Fail System (aka The Truth About Building Muscle. As usual I’ve used the Toastmasters sandwich–some pros, some cons and finally some more pros.

Overall rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Pros

  • Upon completion of the purchase he offers 4 free bonuses not mentioned in the sales copy. After making the purchase it is comforting to know that I’m getting more than I paid for. He definitely knows how to under-promise and over-deliver.
  • The free report on factors that boost (do these) and lower (avoid these) your testosterone is well researched and informative. Testosterone is the most important hormone in muscle building and also controls your sex drive, aggression, mood etc.
  • Includes a thorough review of supplements. He does a comprehensive review of all the popular supplements giving each one a thumbs up a thumbs down or a maybe—there are a number of newer supplements where the jury is still out and the various studies done are inconclusive.

As I have said in the past it is very difficult for the average person to know which supplements work and which ones don’t (about 95% of them don’t!!). You simply don’t have the time or interest to do the laborious research. The best you can do is figure out who to trust and then rely on them.  Sean is trustworthy. He has spent years developing his own body, done thorough research and is not affiliated with any supplement company.

  • The training videos are simply super. It is good to see that he is also a stickler for good form and avoiding injuries.
  • He explains simply and clearly why you should do certain things rather than just saying you should do them. A clear understanding of the why will make the what fall in place much easier
  • I appreciate the fact that he doesn’t try to manufacture anything ‘new and revolutionary’ and tout his system as the only thing that works. He is just interested in getting you results. For example, on page 62 he concedes that although his method is primarily based on free weights and compound movements (the most efficient way to achieve muscle growth), machines have their place too and he explains why.
  • It is written in an easy conversational style rather than a i-have-two-masters-degrees-in-exercise-science-and-will-dazzle-you-with-scientific-lingo style :)

Cons

  • During the purchase process I felt like he was a tad too aggressive in upselling me various bells and whistles that I don’t need. Of all the upsells I’d prolly only recommend the first one for hardgainers and perhaps the fitness inner circle. As a hardgainer you definitely don’t need the fat loss system or any of the other fat loss related products
  • With no fewer than ten bonus reports/packages all the information can seem overwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, it is all good value for money but makes you feel like there is so much to work to do! My advice is start with the core product (The Truth About Building Muscle) then passively peruse the bonuses and only further explore whatever piques your interest.

Pros

  • He breaks down body part splits in a very sensible way i.e. how you should split up training the different body parts to make sure you are hitting each part sufficiently while avoiding overtraining (page 76)
  • He summarizes the key points at the end of every chapter which serves as good reinforcement
  • Explains the importance of nutrition and really breaks it down. You will be instantly cured of the myth that if you exercise you can eat whatever you like! In particular I like the simple way he explains how to use the Glycemic Index (GI) property of foods
  • Offers a simple and reliable way to calculate how much food you should consume given your body type and activity level.

All in all this is a  product I highly recommend for every hardgainer. You should consider it a core and foundational part of your training and is definitely superior to Jason Ferruggia’s Muscle Gain Secrets
